🇬🇧 Franco – Algerian thaw ? 🇫🇷 Dégel Franco-Algérien ?

🇬🇧 Franco‑Algerian relations have significantly hardened over the past two years, to the point that France recalled its ambassador from Algiers. Thirteen months of absence reflect the depth of the crisis. But since January 1st, three French ministers — Defense, Interior, and Justice — have travelled to Algiers, and the Algerian Interior Minister is expected in Paris.

France has made no concessions regarding its recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara. However, the actions taken against organized crime in Marseille and the “DZ mafia” cannot leave Algiers indifferent… The release of a French journalist who had been imprisoned is officially one of the major subjects of negotiation.

🇫🇷 Les relations franco-algériennes depuis 2 ans se sont profondément durcies, allant jusqu’au rappel de l’ambassadeur de France à Alger. Treize mois d’absence traduisent la profondeur de la crise. Mais depuis le 1er janvier, 3 ministres français se sont rendus à Alger, Défense, Intérieur, Justice, et le ministre algérien de l’intérieur est attendu à Paris.

La France n’a rien concédé quant à sa reconnaissance de la souveraineté marocaine sur le Sahara occidental. Mais les actions sur le crime organisé à Marseille et la DZ mafia, ne peuvent laisser Alger insensible…. La libération d’un journaliste français emprisonné est officiellement un des importants sujets de négociation.
